Baidu Cloud reportedly separates AI agent and MaaS businesses

Baidu Cloud, a division of Chinese technology giant Baidu, has reportedly undertaken a significant restructuring of its AI-focused operations. The company's platform product division has been renamed the intelligent-agent division, while its model-as-a-service (MaaS) and Qianfan businesses have been moved to a separate infrastructure division. These changes are reported to have taken effect in August.

The company's data platform unit has also been renamed the data-intelligence division and placed under the intelligent-applications business group. This restructuring effectively separates Baidu Cloud's model infrastructure, data services, and agent products into distinct operational units.

The reorganization is seen as a strategic move to bolster Baidu Cloud's expansion into the enterprise AI market. By creating distinct divisions, the company aims to streamline operations, enhance focus on specific product areas, and potentially accelerate development and service delivery within its growing AI business.
