Baidu Maps Launches Smart Navigation System for Two-Wheeled Vehicles
Baidu Maps has unveiled its "Intelligent Motorcycle Experience" system, bringing advanced navigation to two-wheeled vehicles. Map demand ranks among the top three needs for users of these vehicles, according to Baidu Maps.
Baidu Maps officially launched its "Intelligent Motorcycle Experience" system on September 19 during the 2026 China Motorcycle Chongqing Forum. The system aims to enhance the smart capabilities of motorcycles and scooters.
Zhang Chaoyuan, Head of Intelligent Service Products at Baidu Maps, stated that map navigation is a top three requirement for users of two-wheeled vehicles. He emphasized that a two-wheeled vehicle lacking map navigation cannot be considered truly intelligent.
The new system integrates six core functions and five key scenarios, including intelligent search, RAG queries, smart route planning, fuzzy POI navigation, memory functions, and recommendation capabilities. The Baidu Maps app now supports direct transfer to vehicle dashboards, allowing users to plan routes in the app and seamlessly transition them to the vehicle's display.
Features now available for two-wheeled vehicles include an intelligent cruise control mode, similar to those found in cars, enabling immediate navigation upon starting the vehicle. The system can display information such as traffic light countdowns and road conditions on the central control screen.
Baidu Maps has previously introduced lane-level navigation for Android systems. The latest development brings full mapping capabilities to RTOS (Real-Time Operating System) navigation systems, designed for low-power, compact devices. The company aims to continuously optimize the riding experience and collaborate with manufacturers and partners to define the future of smart mobility for two-wheeled vehicles.
