Baidu updates iOS app following bypass of 'shake' ad restrictions
Baidu has released an update for its cloud storage app to resolve issues where advertisements continued to trigger via device motion despite Apple’s system-level blocks.
Reports emerged that the Baidu Netdisk application was bypassing Apple’s iOS 27.2 restrictions designed to prevent motion-triggered advertisements. Reverse engineering of the application suggested it utilized secondary sensor data to detect device movement when primary access was restricted.
Sources close to the matter stated that the issue was not a deliberate attempt to circumvent security features but rather a technical synchronization delay caused by Apple's strict app review process. The company noted that the intended functionality was pending authorization.
Baidu deployed version 13.36.5 on November 2. Independent testing confirms that the update effectively respects the 'limit motion data' settings in iOS, preventing the unauthorized triggering of advertisements.
