Bakkafrost's operating EBIT boosted by strong Faroese performance

Bakkafrost Group announced an operational EBIT of DKK 273 million for the second quarter of 2026, a significant increase from DKK 65 million in the same period last year. The improvement was primarily attributed to strong biological performance, a 67% rise in harvest volumes, and reduced costs at its Faroese operations.

In contrast to the favorable results from the Faroe Islands, Bakkafrost's Scottish operations were impacted by low harvest volumes and issues with a specific batch of fish. Despite these challenges, the company noted that demand remained robust, and the supply outlook for the latter half of 2026 is becoming more balanced.

The higher harvest volumes and improved cost efficiency in the Faroe Islands were key factors in the quarter's performance. The company expects market conditions to stabilize in the second half of the year.

Bakkafrost operates primarily in the Faroe Islands and Scotland, focusing on sustainable salmon farming and continuous efficiency improvements across its facilities.
