Ballard Acquires GeoPura, Becomes Integrated Hydrogen Energy Solutions Provider

Ballard Power Systems has completed its acquisition of GeoPura, positioning the company as an integrated provider of hydrogen-based energy solutions. The deal combines GeoPura's hydrogen power units, its fuel supply capabilities, and its "energy-as-a-service" business model with Ballard's proven fuel cell technology and worldwide reach.

This acquisition allows Ballard to offer customers a more comprehensive range of solutions covering the entire hydrogen fuel cell system value chain. This now includes the company's own fuel supply and associated services, expected to enhance Ballard's ability to meet growing global demand for clean energy, particularly hydrogen.

Stephen* H. W. Young, formerly CEO of GeoPura, has been appointed as the head of Ballard's newly formed Integrated Power Solutions division. The acquisition is expected to strengthen Ballard's competitive position in the expanding market for hydrogen technology.

Historically, Ballard has focused on the manufacturing and supply of fuel cell modules. The integration of GeoPura enables a more complete offering of energy services, potentially providing a significant advantage in the evolving energy landscape.
