Ballard Completes GeoPura Acquisition, Expands Hydrogen Solutions

Ballard Power Systems Inc. announced the completion of its acquisition of UK-based GeoPura Limited. The combined entity aims to provide integrated hydrogen energy solutions by merging Ballard's fuel cell technology with GeoPura's hydrogen power units and its energy-as-a-service business model.

GeoPura specializes in hydrogen power units that generate electricity from hydrogen, alongside fuel supply and service-based energy delivery. Ballard stated that this acquisition complements its existing offerings in the clean energy sector.

Randy MacEwen, CEO of Ballard, commented that the acquisition is strategic, intended to enhance the company's position as a provider of hydrogen energy solutions. GeoPura's technology and business model are expected to offer expanded capabilities to Ballard's customer base.

The integration is expected to strengthen Ballard's presence in the growing market for clean energy technologies, offering customers pathways to reduce carbon emissions and support the transition to a low-carbon economy.
