Barco to open first HDR cinema site in Belgium with Kinepolis
Barco is expanding its high-dynamic-range cinema technology to its home market, partnering with Kinepolis to install its first HDR theater in Belgium.
Barco announced plans to introduce its HDR (high-dynamic-range) cinema projection system to Belgium. The project will be realized in partnership with cinema operator Kinepolis, marking the first time the company’s premium projection technology is deployed in its domestic market.
The deployment follows the system's expansion across several international markets, including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, India, Italy, and the Netherlands. The technology uses laser projection to increase brightness and contrast levels compared to standard digital cinema configurations.
This move represents a strategic step for Barco to increase the footprint of its specialized cinema hardware. By aligning with a major regional player like Kinepolis, Barco seeks to establish a permanent showcase for its visual technology within the European exhibition sector.
