BaseCamp Franchising Opens 300th Store Amid Record Growth
BaseCamp Franchising, the parent company of Uptown Cheapskate and Kid to Kid, celebrated opening its 300th store in the first half of 2026 and signed over 35 new franchise agreements.

BaseCamp Franchising, which operates the upscale thrift brands Uptown Cheapskate and Kid to Kid, reported significant expansion during the first half of 2026. The company opened 16 new stores across 10 states, culminating in the launch of its 300th location in Weatherford, Texas. Additionally, BaseCamp secured more than 35 new franchise agreements with both existing and new franchisees.
The growth aligns with a broader trend in the resale market, which is outpacing traditional retail. A 2026 report by ThredUp indicates the U.S. secondhand apparel market is growing nearly four times faster than the broader clothing market and is projected to reach nearly $80 billion by 2030. Resale's resilience in various economic conditions makes it an attractive business model.
BaseCamp is specifically targeting expansion in the Northeast region. Following the successful debut of Uptown Cheapskate's first Massachusetts store in March, the company has multi-unit development plans in New York and New Jersey, along with other states.
"The response in Massachusetts has reinforced our belief in the long-term potential for our brands in the Northeast," stated Zach Gordon, Co-CEO of BaseCamp Franchising. "There is tremendous pent-up demand for a more curated, elevated resale experience, and we're excited to bring Uptown Cheapskate and Kid to Kid to more communities across the country."
