Basecamp Research raises $140M for AI-designed therapeutics

Basecamp Research, a company focused on developing medicines using artificial intelligence, has secured $140 million in Series C financing. The funding aims to advance the company's pipeline of AI-designed therapeutics and train new generations of its proprietary EDEN AI models.

The company's stated goal is to develop cures for currently incurable diseases by designing treatments that can reprogram the body to self-repair. Basecamp combines advanced AI models, trained on its own biological data, with technology for writing DNA sequences into cells.

The oversubscribed funding round was led by S32, with participation from investors including NVIDIA and Anthropic. The capital will support the progression of EDEN-designed therapies, starting with an in vivo cell therapy intended to reprogram a patient's cells within the body. Basecamp reports strong preclinical results across multiple modalities and disease areas.

"We believe the future of medicine lies in reprogramming the body to repair itself," said Glen Gowers, co-founder and CEO of Basecamp Research. "AI-based approaches promise to change what's possible for patients who currently have few alternatives. This funding brings this technology closer to those who need it most."

Basecamp Research utilizes its Trillion Gene Atlas, described as the world's largest proprietary biological AI training dataset. This dataset, built with partners such as NVIDIA and Anthropic, draws on biological data collected through partnerships in over 30 countries across all seven continents.
