Basecamp Research Secures $140 Million in Series C Funding

London-based Basecamp Research has announced the closing of a $140 million Series C funding round, led by S32. The capital injection is intended to fuel the development of the company's biological foundation models and accelerate the path for medicines designed using its platform into clinical trials.

The funding will support Basecamp Research's mission to expedite drug discovery and development by leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning to understand and model complex biological processes. Founded in 2020, the company focuses on creating advanced computational tools for the life sciences.

The investment round saw participation from notable investors including Anthropic's Anthology Fund, Nvidia, S32, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Baillie Gifford, existing investors such as Khosla Ventures and Founders Fund, and other strategic backers like Deepfield Capital and GV.

Ben Gordon, CEO and co-founder of Basecamp Research, highlighted the transformative potential of AI in drug discovery. He stated that AI-driven approaches can uncover novel biological insights and significantly shorten the timeline for bringing new therapies to patients.

Basecamp Research plans to utilize the new capital to expand its team, enhance its technological capabilities, and advance its internal pipeline of drug candidates towards preclinical and clinical studies.
