Bauer Resources Combines Soil Remediation and Disposal Near Duisburg

Bauer Resources GmbH's environmental division has finalized a significant project near Duisburg, Germany, merging soil remediation with the controlled disposal of contaminated materials.

The operation focused on extracting contaminated soil down to depths of 16 meters through large-diameter boring techniques. Specialists from the division executed 167 vertical and 30 angled boreholes. A key challenge was the proximity to two existing pipelines, necessitating high precision to remove the soil without damage.

Approximately 6,500 tons of contaminated soil were subsequently transported to the company's own soil treatment center in Duisburg. Before final processing, the material underwent classification and chemical analysis to determine its specific properties. Depending on the results, the soil was directed towards thermal treatment or final disposal.

This project highlights Bauer Resources' capability to offer comprehensive solutions for brownfield remediation, from on-site excavation to professional waste management. The treatment center's location also provides logistical advantages, facilitating transport by ship, rail, and road.
