BAUHAUS Automates Goods Receiving with XYZ Robotics
DIY retailer BAUHAUS has implemented XYZ Robotics' mobile manipulation robots at its Krefeld central warehouse to automate its entire goods receiving process.
BAUHAUS, a European retailer specializing in home improvement, has deployed XYZ Robotics' automated system at its central warehouse in Krefeld, Germany. The system utilizes "RockyOne" and "RockyOne SE" robots to handle the complete goods receiving workflow, from unloading shipping containers to sorting and palletizing goods for shelving.
The automation addresses the complexity of handling varied carton sizes and stacking methods common in BAUHAUS' extensive product range. With the Krefeld facility processing thousands of inbound shipments daily, the aim is to improve operational efficiency and reduce workplace injuries associated with manual labor.
Traditionally, manual unloading of containers involves repetitive heavy lifting in confined and sometimes challenging environments, contributing to high staff turnover and injury rates. The new robotic system shifts human operators from strenuous physical tasks to overseeing the automated process via a tablet interface.
XYZ Robotics, founded in 2018, develops mobile manipulation robots for logistics automation. BAUHAUS operates over 290 specialty centers across 19 European countries, known for its wide selection of products for workshops, homes, and gardens.
