BAUHAUS Automates Goods Receiving With XYZ Robotics

Home improvement retailer BAUHAUS has implemented an automated goods receiving system from XYZ Robotics at its central warehouse in Krefeld, Germany. The technology aims to streamline the entire process, from unloading shipping containers to preparing pallets for shelving, thereby enhancing operational consistency and reallocating staff to other tasks.

The system employs XYZ Robotics' RockyOne and RockyOne SE robots. RockyOne robots autonomously unload loose cartons of varied sizes and orientations from shipping containers. Following automated identification and sorting, the RockyOne SE units build pallets according to predefined patterns, creating ready-to-store outputs.

This automation addresses the physically demanding aspects of manual container unloading, which can contribute to high employee turnover and injury risks. By shifting these repetitive tasks to robots, BAUHAUS expects its warehouse team to focus on supervisory roles and more complex responsibilities. The system has reportedly been operating reliably without manual intervention.

BAUHAUS operates over 290 specialty centers across 19 European countries. The company is reportedly considering further deployments of this technology within its logistics network. XYZ Robotics, a provider of mobile manipulation robots, is also expanding its European support capabilities for warehouse automation.
