Baystate Health integrates Baystate Mercy Hospital into regional system

Baystate Health has officially incorporated Baystate Mercy Hospital, its joint venture affiliates, and 45 associated medical group entities into its organizational structure. The move, accompanied by the implementation of a standardized Oracle Health electronic health record (EHR) platform, is intended to centralize patient data and streamline clinical workflows across its network in Western Massachusetts.

CEO Peter D. Banko stated that the transition aims to preserve regional healthcare access and ensure long-term sustainability for both institutions. By moving to a unified digital portal, known as MyBaystate Health, the system aims to reduce administrative friction and improve information accessibility for care teams.

For patients, the integration results in no changes to existing appointment schedules, locations, or insurance coverage. The emergency department at Baystate Mercy Hospital remains operational under the management of Baystate Health’s emergency medicine faculty. The facility will continue to serve communities across Springfield, Chicopee, and Agawam.

Looking forward, the health system plans to focus on optimizing service delivery between its nearby hospitals. The management expects that stabilizing these clinical operations will facilitate future collaborations aimed at expanding specialized services and improving patient outcomes in the region.
