BCG Survey: Revenue Leaders Expect More Staff and Budgets by 2027, Backed by AI
A new BCG survey reveals 65% of revenue leaders anticipate headcount growth and 72% expect budget increases by 2027. AI is expected to help sales teams meet these heightened ambitions.

Chief Revenue Officers are heading into 2027 with expectations of significant growth in both staffing and budgets, according to a new survey by Boston Consulting Group (BCG). The study found that 65% of revenue leaders anticipate their headcount will grow, while 72% expect their budgets to rise.
Furthermore, 91% of these leaders foresee higher quotas or increased productivity requirements per seller. These expectations signal a substantial pressure to enhance sales performance in the coming years, potentially amidst ongoing economic uncertainties.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is identified as a key enabler for achieving these ambitious objectives. The majority of respondents believe AI will play a crucial role in supporting sales teams to meet these escalating demands.
However, the survey also highlighted a gap between the productivity gains currently being realized through AI and actual commercial results. While AI is improving sales processes, its impact on ultimate sales figures does not yet fully align with expectations. Companies are working to better leverage AI to maximize commercial outcomes.
