Berlin – The German Association of Digital Publishers and Newspaper Editors (BDZV) today presented the first-ever #beBETA Digital Impact Award. The honors recognize media houses making strategic, economic, and/or editorial advancements.

Ippen Media of Munich received the gold award for its "Digitale Wahlkarten" (Digital Election Cards) project. This initiative visualizes and analyzes complex election data, providing transparency from local to national levels. The jury praised the project for its blend of technological capability and journalistic rigor, stating Ippen Media has set new standards for data-driven journalism with its comprehensive coverage.

Neue Pressegesellschaft (NPG) from Ulm secured the silver award for its "Personalisierte Plattform" (Personalized Platform). NPG fundamentally redeveloped its digital offerings by personalizing content based on user interests and local relevance. The jury noted that this personalization balances algorithmic decision-making with editorial prioritization, ensuring relevance while upholding journalistic principles.

Süddeutsche Zeitung was awarded the bronze prize for its diverse engagement tools, including News Quizzes, Snap Stories, and Storytelling Plugins. The association recognized SZ's success in embedding innovation within its organization through its "Next Generation Storytelling" approach, which facilitates the rapid development and scaling of new formats.

The awards were presented during BDZV's annual digital conference #beBETA, attended by approximately 250 guests. A total of 43 digital projects competed for the award, which follows the tradition of the NOVA Innovation Award previously presented by BDZV and Highberg.
