BDZV Releases Digital Report 2026
The German Association of Digital Publishers and Newspaper Publishers (BDZV) has released its annual report, focusing on how quality journalism and trusted brands can remain relevant and economically successful in the AI era.

The German Association of Digital Publishers and Newspaper Publishers (BDZV) has published its "Digital 2026" annual report, titled "The Value of Truth." The report addresses how quality journalism and trusted brands can maintain their relevance and economic success in the age of artificial intelligence (AI).
Spanning approximately 240 pages with 38 contributions, the report features insights from 53 authors on best practices, projects, and strategies within the digital publishing business. Topics covered include the use of AI in editorial departments and product development, audience and community strategies, as well as paid content, dynamic paywalls, e-papers, and audio formats. Approaches for new digital revenue models are also explored.
A significant focus of the report is on how publishers can build direct relationships with their audience and develop robust user relationships from reach. The report highlights trust as a central factor for journalistic offerings. In a public sphere shaped by platforms, synthetic content, and changing user habits, it examines how researched, verified, contextualized, and responsible content can be translated into strong products, increased loyalty, and viable digital business models.
The secure and meaningful integration of AI into editorial and operational processes is also discussed. The Digital Report is available as a PDF for members through a closed login area. Alternatively, it can be requested via email at kansky@bdzv.de.
