Bear Robotics announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Kinisi Robotics. The transaction is expected to enhance Bear's Physical AI robot platform by incorporating Kinisi's humanoid robot technology and engineering team.

The acquisition will add Kinisi's KR1 humanoid robot, its engineering team based in Bristol, U.K., and its Physical AI capabilities to Bear Robotics. Bear Robotics already operates a fleet of over 16,000 service robots worldwide. The integration of Kinisi's technology will enable Bear's robots to move beyond delivery and cleaning to picking, sorting, and handling physical objects.

Bear Robotics and Kinisi Robotics have a prior technical relationship, with Kinisi building on Bear's navigation technology. This collaboration provided Bear with insight into Kinisi's engineering quality and its KR1 manipulation platform. The merger aims to allow Bear's diverse robots, including delivery, cleaning, and humanoid models, to function as a coordinated team on a single platform.

The deal brings Bear Robotics manipulation technology and a research team that would have otherwise taken years to develop. Brennand Pierce, a co-founder of Bear Robotics, will rejoin the company with Kinisi. The acquisition also establishes a European engineering hub for Bear in Bristol, complementing its existing operations in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Both companies will continue to operate independently until the acquisition officially closes, which is anticipated in the coming days.
