Beijer Ref acquires 90% of Lithuanian Refra to strengthen natural refrigerant offering
Swedish company Beijer Ref has agreed to acquire 90 percent of Lithuanian HVAC/R systems manufacturer Refra, which specializes in natural refrigerants.

Swedish company Beijer Ref has signed an agreement to acquire 90 percent of Refra, a Lithuanian manufacturer of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning/refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems that utilize natural refrigerants. The deal expands Beijer Ref's portfolio, particularly in systems using carbon dioxide (CO₂) and propane (R290).
Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Vilnius, Lithuania, Refra specializes in custom-engineered cooling and heating solutions. The company reports an annual turnover of approximately SEK 500 million with solid profitability. Beijer Ref also holds an option to acquire the remaining 10 percent of the shares.
This acquisition aligns with Beijer Ref's strategy to enhance its presence in the market for natural refrigerant-based solutions. Natural refrigerants are increasingly favored as environmentally friendlier alternatives to synthetic refrigerants, which face growing regulatory restrictions.
Beijer Ref is one of the world's largest refrigerant suppliers and a leading player in its field in Europe. The company intends to integrate Refra's operations and leverage its expertise within its broader European network.
