Beitragsservice launches digital document service pilot

The German public broadcasting collection agency, Beitragsservice, has initiated a pilot program to shift from paper-based mail to digital document delivery.

2 November 2026

Beitragsservice, the agency responsible for collecting the mandatory radio and television license fee in Germany, has introduced a new digital platform for official correspondence. Under the pilot scheme, participating contributors will receive their documents electronically rather than through traditional postal mail.

The organization is currently limiting the pilot to a small group of users to test the infrastructure's efficacy and reliability. By transitioning to digital delivery, the agency aims to streamline its communication processes and reduce reliance on physical mail, a move that aligns with wider digitization efforts across German public administration.

Following this initial trial, the agency plans to gradually expand the service to a larger user base. The project reflects a broader shift toward paperless bureaucracy, prioritizing online accessibility for mandatory public service payments.
