The Beitragsservice, the joint administrative body for German public broadcasters ARD, ZDF, and Deutschlandradio, has launched a significantly updated version of its website, rundfunkbeitrag.de. The relaunch is based on a new technical infrastructure, designed to support the long-term evolution of the website and the expansion of digital self-service options for contributors.

A key feature of the revamped site is an improved search function, intended to guide users more directly to the correct information and online forms relevant to their specific needs. Minor adjustments have also been made to the site's visual design and content structure. The website is now fully responsive, ensuring a consistent and user-friendly experience across all devices, including smartphones, tablets, and desktop computers.

This updated technical architecture is expected to create new opportunities for enhancing existing self-service functionalities and introducing novel features. "The transition to a new technical basis is the result of an analysis of the existing infrastructure and its limitations," stated Joachim Altmann, Head of IT at Beitragsservice. "Moving to the new infrastructure provides us with scope for developing our digital customer interfaces and, in the long term, establishing the website as the preferred channel for our customers' submissions."

The Beitragsservice manages approximately 47 million contribution accounts. Last year, the website recorded 17 million visits, with its online forms being utilized around 4.1 million times. The relaunch and new search functionality are intended to further shift transaction volume towards digital channels, thereby enabling more efficient and timely processing.
