BeLeaf Medical implements on-site waste digestion system
BeLeaf Medical has installed a Power Knot LCD-300 biodigester in Missouri to process cannabis plant waste on-site, eliminating external hauling requirements.

Missouri-based cannabis producer BeLeaf Medical has deployed a Power Knot LCD-300 biodigester at its Earth City facility to manage its organic plant waste. Since September 2026, the unit has processed roughly 1,800 kilograms of leaves and stalks monthly, replacing the previous system of grinding and storing material for external transport.
The technology utilizes aerobic digestion to convert plant matter into a liquid byproduct that is safely discharged into the drain. This process ensures the material is rendered unrecognizable, meeting state regulatory requirements for cannabis waste disposal without the need for bulking agents.
Justin Sheffield, Director of Cultivation at BeLeaf Medical, noted that the system provides both financial and operational benefits. The company estimates a return on investment within one year through saved hauling costs, while also improving site biosecurity by eliminating the need to store decaying waste on-site.
