Believe Highlights Five Artists from Thailand's Indie Music Scene

Music distributor Believe has identified five Thai indie artists and groups representing the country's diversifying music scene. The company notes that the growth of Thai independent music has been significantly influenced by streaming services.

Yotsatorn Boonyatanapiwat, A&R Senior Manager at Believe Thailand, served as a guide for the showcase featuring artists such as Reinizra, BLVCKHEART, and Lower Mansion. These artists blend genres like indie pop, R&B, and hip-hop, which have become increasingly prevalent in Thailand.

"Thai indie music emerged around the early 2000s, driven by alternative radio station Fat Radio 104.5FM," Boonyatanapiwat stated. He points out that the term "indie artist" in Thailand often refers to acts not affiliated with major labels, even if their musical output is similar to mainstream artists.

Artists like Reinizra, whose tracks have garnered tens of millions of views on YouTube, and BLVCKHEART, who has emerged from the hip-hop collective scene, demonstrate the sector's vitality. Smaller, successful independent labels have also become significant players in the Thai music market, with their artists performing at sold-out concerts.

Believe has aimed to support these artists through its local BEEEF imprint and international bYOND imprint. The company continues its efforts to discover and nurture new talent in both global and local markets.
