Digital music company Believe announced on Thursday, April 28, 2022, the renewal of its distribution agreements with Chinese digital platforms Tencent Music Entertainment (TME) and NetEase Cloud Music. These renewals are positioned as a strategic move to bolster Believe's growth in the Chinese market and enhance services for its labels and artists.

Believe has been an established partner with both TME and NetEase Cloud Music for an extended period. The renewed deals are expected to provide expanded opportunities for developing both local and international artists on these platforms. The company also highlighted its role as an early provider of daily streaming statistics from these platforms, enabling real-time performance monitoring for artists and their labels.

Sylvain Delange, Managing Director, APAC, at Believe, stated that China represents a significant market for domestic music consumption. He indicated that the renewals align with Believe's core values of supporting local acts within their home markets. Delange expressed optimism regarding the new partnerships facilitating access to wider audiences and furthering Believe's business expansion in China.

The company has been active in China since 2016, with significant investment increases starting in 2018 as the market matured. Believe claims to be among the first international companies to sign distribution deals with local platforms, invest in local teams, and develop a market presence. It currently represents thousands of artists and hundreds of labels in the country. The company cited Chinese singer Young Captain as an example of success, growing his fanbase significantly on TME and NetEase Cloud Music since partnering with Believe in May 2021.
