Benenden Hospital completes 500th Arthrosamid treatment for knee osteoarthritis
Benenden Hospital in Kent has become the first in the UK to administer 500 Arthrosamid treatments for patients suffering from knee osteoarthritis.

Benenden Hospital in Kent has marked a significant milestone by treating over 500 patients with Arthrosamid, a long-lasting hydrogel injection for knee osteoarthritis. The hospital announced on March 30, 2026, that it is the first in the UK to reach this achievement.
Introduced at the hospital in 2024, the non-surgical treatment involves injecting a hydrogel directly into the knee joint to reduce pain and improve mobility. It serves as an alternative for individuals with mild to moderate knee degeneration who may not yet require surgery.
The hospital's management and clinical teams celebrated the milestone with representatives from the developer, Contura Orthopaedics. Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Alex Chipperfield described Arthrosamid as a "generational product" that has generated substantial interest due to its proven, reproducible results.
Contura Orthopaedics CEO Rakesh Tailor highlighted the global impact of knee osteoarthritis and stated that Arthrosamid offers long-lasting pain relief without surgery, with data showing efficacy maintained for up to five years.
