The strong performance continued into the second quarter, with net earnings totaling $25.67 billion, up 107.49% from the second quarter of the previous fiscal year. The company attributed the growth to improved investment results and robust operating earnings across its diverse subsidiaries.
Key business segments reported positive contributions. The insurance underwriting business generated $3.45 billion in earnings, while insurance investment income added $5.74 billion. The BNSF railroad reported earnings of $2.93 billion, and the energy division contributed $2.01 billion.
Berkshire Hathaway also continued its share repurchase program, buying back $4.5 billion worth of stock in the second quarter, bringing the total for the first half to approximately $4.8 billion. As of June 30, 2026, the company's float from insurance operations stood at about $177.5 billion.
