Travel portal Opodo has profiled the role of Berlin as a central filming location for the final installment of the cinematic series, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. The German capital was chosen by the production team to serve as a backdrop for various scenes following the film's international marketing push.

Production designer Philipp Messina identified the former Tempelhof Airport as a pivotal site for the film. The facility's scale allowed for the construction of extensive sets, including the rebel camp for District 2 and command centers featured in the movie.

Cast members, including Jeffrey Wright, credited the architectural diversity of Berlin as the primary motivator for selecting the city for production. The use of iconic locations in film often serves as a point of interest for international tourism, connecting urban landmarks with global entertainment franchises.
