Bertelsmann Brings UFA Film Night to Luxembourg
Bertelsmann staged its first UFA Film Night in Luxembourg, drawing approximately 1,200 attendees to a sold-out screening of Ernst Lubitsch's restored 1918 silent film “Carmen.”
Media company Bertelsmann hosted its inaugural UFA Film Night in Luxembourg, attracting around 1,200 guests to a sold-out screening of Ernst Lubitsch's digitally restored 1918 silent film “Carmen.”
The event, organized in collaboration with Philharmonie Luxembourg, featured a live orchestral performance by the Luxembourg Philharmonic. The orchestra performed a score composed by Tobias Schwencke, originally created for the film's 2021 UFA Film Nights presentation in Berlin. Conductor Nacho de Paz led the performance.
The Luxembourg screening marks an expansion of the UFA Film Nights cultural series, which Bertelsmann launched in Berlin in 2012. The series has since been presented in cities including Brussels, Madrid, Paris, and New York.
Bertelsmann Chairman and CEO Thomas Rabe commented on the company's long-standing relationship with Luxembourg, encompassing both business activities and cultural engagement. The UFA Film Nights are part of Bertelsmann's broader 'Culture@Bertelsmann' initiative, which supports film preservation and cultural heritage projects globally.
