BEWI has established a new standard for extruded polystyrene (XPS) products supplied throughout the Nordic region. The updated standard mandates that all XPS insulation boards must contain a minimum of 50 percent recycled material.

The new standard, named Terra XPS, applies to all XPS supplied by BEWI for construction purposes in Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark. The company states that the performance characteristics and intended uses of the insulation boards will remain consistent with previous specifications.

Customers will be able to continue using the same technical specifications, ordering procedures, and working methods as before. This ensures a seamless transition to the new, more sustainable product line without requiring changes in established practices.

The company's move aligns with a broader industry trend toward increased sustainability and circular economy principles in construction materials. By incorporating a significant percentage of recycled content, BEWI aims to reduce the environmental footprint of its XPS products.
