BigBasket FY26 losses swell 59% amid quick commerce push
Tata Digital-owned BigBasket saw its net loss widen by 59% to Rs 3,192 crore in FY26 as it intensified its quick commerce operations amid rising competition.

BigBasket, a grocery e-commerce platform owned by Tata Digital, reported a significant increase in its financial losses for the fiscal year ending March 2026. The company's consolidated net loss widened by 59% to Rs 3,192 crore, up from Rs 2,007 crore in the previous fiscal year. This comes as BigBasket increases its focus on its quick commerce business, BBNow, aiming for deliveries within 15-30 minutes, facing intense competition from rivals like Blinkit, Instamart, and Zepto.
The increased losses occurred despite a modest rise in revenue. Total operating revenue grew by just over 6% to Rs 10,498 crore. The company's B2C arm, Innovative Retail Concepts Pvt Ltd, which primarily operates the quick commerce platform, saw its revenue reach Rs 8,223 crore but its losses surged by 66% year-on-year to Rs 3,073 crore.
BigBasket's B2B segment, which serves the HoReCa sector with bulk grocery deliveries, performed better with a 3% revenue increase to Rs 2,298 crore. Its losses narrowed to Rs 102 crore. The company's milk delivery platform, DailyNinja, also reported reduced losses.
Overall expenditure for BigBasket rose by nearly 16% to Rs 13,784 crore in FY26. Key cost drivers included purchases of stock-in-trade (Rs 9,102 crore), employee benefits (Rs 1,052 crore), and transportation and distribution expenses (Rs 1,042 crore), all of which saw significant increases. Advertising and promotional expenses also rose by 14% to Rs 569 crore.
