Chinese media company Bilibili has released a family of open-source translation models named Index-Translate. The models are available for download on Hugging Face and ModelScope platforms, aiming to enhance multilingual text and speech translation.
The Index-Translate suite includes several specialized tools. Text models, with 2B, 9B, and 35B-A3B (preview) weight versions, support up to 150 different languages, including Chinese and English. These models can interpret translation instructions for terminology, formatting, and content preservation.
The family also features Index-Echo, which generates target language subtitles or dubbing while retaining original voice characteristics. Index-Homura allows adjustment of translated text length based on syllable count, and Index-NativeLong is designed for translating long documents while maintaining contextual coherence.
Bilibili states the models are built upon the Qwen3.5 architecture. This release provides researchers and developers with new tools for creating multilingual applications and may advance translation technology, particularly for Asian languages.
