Billund Airport adopts Amadeus technology for digitalization
Denmark's second-largest airport has deployed Amadeus cloud-based solutions to enhance passenger experience and automate operational processes.

Billund Airport, Denmark's second-largest airport, has implemented technology solutions from Amadeus IT Group as part of its digitalization strategy. The move aims to improve passenger experience and operational efficiency.
The airport is now utilizing Amadeus' Altéa Departure Control System, enabling self-service kiosks and online check-in for both charter and scheduled flights. Additionally, Amadeus' Baggage Reconciliation System (BRS) has been adopted. This system tracks passenger baggage in real-time, increasing traceability and reducing instances of mishandled bags. It also assists the airport in meeting IATA's Resolution 753 requirements for baggage data.
Billund Airport stated that the technology upgrade enhances passenger service and ensures the airport's readiness for future capacity demands. Amadeus was chosen as the IT partner to improve process quality and advance the airport's digitalization journey.
Amadeus noted that the cloud-based infrastructure allows for easier deployment, enabling the airport to achieve a self-service capability comparable to larger European airports.
