Biman Bangladesh Airlines Orders 11 More Boeing Jets
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has placed an order for 11 Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX aircraft to expand its fleet. This order follows a previous agreement from earlier in the year.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has placed a new order with Boeing for 11 aircraft, comprising five 787-10 Dreamliners and six 737-8 MAX jets. This purchase builds upon the airline's largest-ever order this year, which included 14 Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX aircraft.
The acquisition of these new planes is part of the airline's fleet modernization initiative and its strategy to expand its international network. Biman Bangladesh Airlines currently operates 787, 777, and 737 Next-Generation aircraft, connecting Bangladesh with major hubs in the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia, and Europe. The new 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX models offer improved fuel efficiency compared to older aircraft.
Boeing stated that Biman's follow-on order underscores the airline's strategic approach to fleet renewal and capacity growth. The commonality of aircraft types is expected to facilitate operational efficiency and maintenance. Biman Chairman Rumee A. Hossain noted that the order aligns with the airline's fleet plan and strengthens its ability to meet Bangladesh's international connectivity needs.
