ABU DHABI, UAE – September 30, 2026 – Binance announced today that eligible overseas Binance Pay users can now make payments at PayPay-supported merchants nationwide in Japan through HIVEX. The new capability, available from September 30, 2026, expands Binance Pay's reach in one of the world's most advanced cashless payment markets.

The system allows approximately 48 million eligible Binance Pay users across over 100 countries and regions to make purchases at millions of merchant locations in Japan. PayPay-supported merchants continue to receive settlement in Japanese yen. This facilitates spending for travelers on dining, shopping, and accommodation.

Binance states that the integration with PayPay supports its long-term vision of making digital asset payments more accessible for both everyday and cross-border transactions. It also bridges digital assets with familiar fiat-based payment experiences.

Thomas Gregory, VP of Payments & Fiat at Binance, noted that Japan is shaping the future of cashless payments. "Our integration with PayPay reflects a shared vision of making payments more seamless, borderless, and accessible for travelers," Gregory said. He added that this demonstrates the growing convergence of traditional fiat payment systems and digital assets.

The connection through established QR payment ecosystems enables digital asset payments while allowing merchants to continue receiving settlement in local currency. The Japan launch is part of Binance's broader QR payment network across Asia's major travel corridors.
