Binance records 6.3 billion dollar loss in cyberattack

Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, recently suffered a security breach resulting in the theft of 6.3 billion dollars in digital assets. Federal authorities, including the FBI, have attributed the attack to the North Korean group identified as TraderTraitor, noting the use of AI tools to accelerate the breach.

Following the resumption of withdrawals, the exchange experienced a net outflow of 3.64 billion dollars as users moved funds off the platform. Despite the volatility, Binance management stated that this figure represents only 2.1 percent of the 171 billion dollars under its management and that platform activity has since stabilized.

Binance has committed to reimbursing affected users and claims to have already replaced 90 percent of the stolen capital. Co-founder Changpeng Zhao addressed the situation on social media, describing the event as a test of the company's operational integrity during a crisis.
