BioAge Labs begins Phase 2 trial for BGE-102 to reduce cardiovascular risk

CHENGDU, China โ€“ July 14, 2026 โ€“ BioAge Labs has administered the first dose of its drug candidate, BGE-102, to a participant in a Phase 2 clinical trial. This study is evaluating the oral NLRP3 inhibitor for its potential to reduce cardiovascular risk.

BGE-102 was developed from a compound originally identified using HitGen Inc.'s DNA-Encoded Library (DEL) technology. It is being developed as a once-daily oral medication with the primary indication being cardiovascular risk reduction. Previous Phase 1 studies indicated that BGE-102 can significantly lower hsCRP levels at a well-tolerated daily dose.

The Phase 2 study, named QUELL-CV, is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled proof-of-concept trial designed to determine the optimal dosage. It will investigate BGE-102 in participants with elevated cardiovascular risk. The trial is expected to provide data for Phase 3 dosing.

Topline data from the study are anticipated in the second half of 2026. HitGen Inc., a partner in the drug's development, congratulated BioAge Labs on reaching this milestone.
