BioGaia publishes clinical data on probiotic treatment for infant colic
A clinical study published in Nutrients suggests that BioGaia’s dual-strain probiotic formulation reduces infant colic symptoms within one week.
BioGaia has released findings from a clinical study evaluating its Protectis Plus BABY probiotic drops. The research, published in the scientific journal Nutrients, examined the efficacy of combining two probiotic strains, L. reuteri Protectis and L. reuteri BG-R46, in addressing infant colic.
The study reported a significant reduction in symptoms for infants after seven days of supplementation. While infant colic remains a common concern for parents and pediatricians, non-pharmaceutical options continue to be a primary area of interest for clinical research.
This study serves as a milestone for BioGaia’s product pipeline, focusing on dual-strain probiotic applications. The company intends to leverage these clinical findings to support the clinical profile of its infant health portfolio in international markets.
