BlackRock Buys Ather Energy Shares Worth ₹445 Cr

Asset management firm BlackRock has acquired approximately 2.6 million shares of electric vehicle manufacturer Ather Energy through an open-market transaction, amounting to ₹445.3 crore. The purchase was made by BlackRock Global Funds, indicating significant investor confidence in the EV sector.

The acquisition coincides with Ather Energy's inclusion in the MSCI India domestic small cap index. The company also recently launched its new Konarc electric scooter, targeting the mass market with an entry-level price of ₹99,999. This new model is built on Ather's EL platform and offers a claimed range of 100 to 200 km.

Alongside the new scooter, Ather Energy unveiled technological advancements, including an enhanced electronic braking system and a more powerful onboard charger. These developments aim to bolster the company's competitive position in the rapidly expanding electric mobility market.

Financially, Ather Energy has demonstrated improved performance, narrowing its net loss by 71% and boosting operating revenue by 79% in the first quarter of FY27. This financial upturn, coupled with strategic investments, has contributed to a substantial rise in the company's stock value over recent months.
