Bloomberg Automates Japanese Government Bond Market-on-Close Trading
Bloomberg has executed the first fully automated Japanese Government Bond (JGB) Market-on-Close trade following the introduction of a new workflow. The process aligns with the BB3P (Hikene Trading) reference rate for JGBs.

Bloomberg has successfully completed the first fully automated trade in the Japanese Government Bond (JGB) market utilizing its Market-on-Close (MOC) functionality. This new automated workflow is designed to support the BB3P reference rate, also known as Hikene Trading, which is a key benchmark for determining the closing prices of JGBs.
The development is expected to bring increased efficiency and speed to the trading of Japanese government debt, particularly in the price determination process at the end of the trading day. The automation aims to reduce the need for manual intervention and minimize the potential for errors, which is crucial for the accuracy and reliability of interest rate markets.
The new system enables trades to be executed automatically based on predefined rules and reference rates. This is particularly significant for MOC trades, which are intended to establish the closing price of a security at the end of the trading session.
According to Bloomberg, this new functionality will be available to users of the Bloomberg terminal who engage in trading Japanese government bonds. This advancement contributes to enhanced market transparency and efficiency within a significant global fixed-income market.
