Apple is preparing to introduce several new health-focused features in its upcoming Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, including continuous, all-day heart rate monitoring, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman.

The company is also reportedly redesigning its health and fitness app to better display health metrics, similar to how popular devices like Whoop and Oura present data. This aims to make the Apple Watch a more comprehensive health tracking device.

The continuous heart rate sensor would allow for more extensive data collection throughout the day, moving beyond measurements taken only during exercise or at random intervals. This deeper data collection is seen as crucial for enhanced health insights.

In related news, Gurman reports that Apple is testing two color options for a rumored ceramic Apple Watch model: white and dark gray. New band colors and styles are also anticipated. The current design language of the Apple Watch, introduced with Series 10, may see a significant redesign as early as Series 13 next year or in a subsequent generation.
