Blue Insect Embodied launches modular humanoid robot

Xi'an Jiaotong University's technology-transfer company Blue Insect Embodied has launched its modular Mantis Standard humanoid robot, also known as "Xiaobai." The robot starts at a price of RMB 9,800 (approximately $1,360 USD).

The robot's chassis, arms, waist, and head utilize standardized modules connected through quick-install interfaces. This modular design allows for easier assembly and customization.

The Mantis Standard features 22 degrees of freedom, with a 7-kilogram payload capacity for a single arm and an arm span of 663 millimeters. Teleoperation latency is reported to be below 10 milliseconds.

Its waist can achieve a lift of 550 millimeters, and the omnidirectional base supports three degrees of freedom. The robot has a forward speed of 3 meters per second and a battery life of three hours. The introduction of the Mantis Standard reflects the growing demand for adaptable and accessible humanoid robots in research and industry.
