BLUETTI and UN-Habitat Expand Clean Energy Initiative to Nigeria
BLUETTI and UN-Habitat are expanding their joint "Lighting a Family in Africa" program into Nigeria. The first pilot has been launched in Abuja.
Clean energy company BLUETTI and the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) have launched their second joint initiative in Nigeria. The program, titled "Lighting a Family in Africa" (LAAF), aims to provide clean and affordable electricity to households currently relying on unreliable or polluting energy sources.
The first pilot project is being implemented in Nigeria's capital, Abuja. The objective is to supply solar-powered energy storage systems and lighting solutions to local families. BLUETTI is providing the hardware, while UN-Habitat is supporting the project's implementation and expansion as part of its broader energy program.
This initiative follows a successful project in Kenya in 2023, where a similar program brought clean energy solutions to over 100 families. BLUETTI and UN-Habitat aim to enhance the availability of sustainable energy solutions across the African continent while reducing carbon emissions and improving living standards.
