The new generation BMW iX3 50L has completed an extreme endurance test, traveling 1030.2 kilometers without recharging. The vehicle journeyed from BMW's production base in Shenyang to its research and development center in Beijing. Upon arrival, the car retained 5% battery capacity, establishing a new benchmark for BMW's electric vehicle range.

This test distance significantly exceeded the vehicle's official CLTC-rated range of 919 kilometers. Previous real-world tests, such as a drive around Qinghai Lake, had recorded a range of 805 kilometers.

The enhanced range is attributed to the sixth-generation BMW eDrive system, an 800-volt high-voltage platform, and new 46mm cylindrical battery cells. Optimizations in the electric drive, thermal management, and aerodynamic systems also contributed to improved energy efficiency. BMW noted that this was a test under specific conditions and actual range may vary based on environmental factors.

The new BMW iX3 50L will open for pre-orders at the Chengdu Motor Show on August 21.
