BMW iX7 electric flagship SUV spotted in Nürburgring trials
Spy photos confirm BMW is testing the upcoming iX7 electric SUV, which will utilize an updated CLAR platform and new exterior styling.
BMW has begun testing its upcoming flagship electric SUV, the iX7, on the Nürburgring circuit in Germany. The vehicle is positioned as a larger, more premium alternative to the existing iX5 model.
Rather than adopting the newer Neue Klasse electric architecture, the iX7 will be built on an evolved version of the CLAR platform. Technical expectations for the vehicle include high-capacity battery support and fast-charging capabilities reaching 460 kW. The chassis, approximately 125mm longer than that of the iX5, is designed to accommodate a larger battery array.
The exterior design incorporates updated styling cues, such as recessed electric door handles replacing traditional levers. Inside, the cabin will feature the panoramic iDrive visual system. Initial powertrain configurations are expected to mirror the 578-horsepower dual-motor setup currently found in the iX5, with a higher-performance M variant anticipated to join the lineup at a later date.
