German automaker BMW has laid out its product plans for the Chinese market, with launches scheduled through the end of 2027. During the company's Capital Markets Day event, a roadmap was unveiled featuring several new and updated models, with a particular emphasis on long-wheelbase versions tailored for Chinese consumers.

Confirmed plans include the release of a long-wheelbase version of the iX3 in the fourth quarter of 2026. The first quarter of 2027 will see the introduction of a long-wheelbase i3, the new 7 Series and its all-electric i7 counterpart, as well as the new X5 and its electric iX5 version.

Over the course of 2027, four additional new models are expected to launch, though specific details have not yet been disclosed. Furthermore, five entirely new vehicle models are planned for the Chinese market in 2028.

Industry publication BMWBlog has speculated that the undisclosed models could include a new generation iX1 with a long wheelbase. This model is expected to utilize a dedicated electric platform and new battery technology, promising significant improvements in range and efficiency. A long-wheelbase version of the new 3 Series is also anticipated in 2027, offering an internal combustion engine option that will be sold alongside the electric i3.

Additionally, long-wheelbase versions of the current 5 Series and i5 are expected to receive a facelift in 2027, incorporating BMW's latest design language and technology. A fourth speculated newcomer might be the iX4 model or the first series-produced BMW Alpina vehicle, reportedly based on the 7 Series. BMW aims to increase the localization rate of its vehicles produced in China to 95% by the end of 2029 and begin exports to Southeast Asia. Long-wheelbase variants are gradually transitioning to become a global part of the product strategy.
