BMWS Recalls Chinese-Made MINI EVs Over Loose Rearview Mirror Issue
BMWS is recalling 315 Chinese-made MINI Cooper and Aceman electric vehicles. The vehicles may have a faulty interior rearview mirror attachment that could become loose.
BMWS is initiating a recall for 315 fully electric MINI Cooper and MINI Aceman vehicles manufactured in China. The recall affects vehicles produced between April 7 and April 23, 2026, due to a potential defect with the interior rearview mirror's mounting.
According to filings with market regulators, a manufacturing defect in the rearview mirror's mounting bracket could lead to poor adhesion between the bracket and the windshield. This could cause the mirror to loosen, potentially obstructing the driver's view. In extreme cases, the mirror could detach completely, posing a risk of injury to occupants.
The manufacturer, Beam Automotive (光束汽车有限公司), will inspect the rearview mirror mounting for affected vehicles. If found to be loose, the windshield assembly will be replaced to rectify the safety concern. The process will be managed through BMW (China) Automotive Trading Ltd.
These specific models represent a small fraction of MINI's electric vehicle production in China. The company aims to address the identified safety hazard promptly.
