Böckmann Portax K: Horse trailer with front unloading feature

Böckmann Fahrzeugwerke GmbH, a manufacturer of horse trailers, has introduced its Portax K and Portax L K models, which include a front unloading feature.

Trailers with front unloading have historically seen popularity in markets like Great Britain and France, with a growing interest now emerging among German equestrians, breeders, and trainers. Böckmann highlights that the front exit offers a safer way for horses to disembark, as they can exit forward with their handler. This method is considered particularly beneficial for young or excitable horses, as it mitigates the stress associated with a backward exit.

The Portax trailers combine the advantages of the front unload design with the established features of the Portax range, focusing on comfort, interior space, and advanced safety. Standard equipment includes an all-aluminium floor and walls, alongside the WCFplus chassis. This lowered chassis, designed to automotive standards, incorporates independent suspension for enhanced driving comfort.

Safety is further addressed through Böckmann's Multi Safe System (MSS), which provides adjustable safety bars at the front and rear that can be quickly released in emergencies. The trailers also offer versatile configurations, such as a combination rear ramp and door or an automatic roiler cover.
