BOE Begins Verification of Apple iPad OLED Panels

Chinese display manufacturer BOE Technology began the verification process for Apple iPad OLED panels in September. According to South Korean research firm UBI Research, the company is testing the panels on its Chengdu B16 production line.

The B16 line is a G8.6 OLED production facility, whose substrate size is suitable for manufacturing medium to large-sized OLED panels used in IT devices like iPads. Currently, Samsung Display and LG Display, both South Korean companies, are the primary suppliers of OLED panels for Apple's iPads.

UBI Research considers this verification significant. BOE faces the challenge of meeting Apple's stringent, multi-faceted quality requirements for OLED panels on the G8.6 substrate. Successfully becoming an iPad OLED supplier could position BOE for future orders for OLED panels in Apple's iPad Air and MacBook product lines.

This move, if successful, could significantly bolster BOE's market share in the global OLED sector and strengthen its relationship with major tech companies.
