BOE supplies screen for Nubia's AI smartphone

BOE Technology Group, a Chinese display manufacturer, has announced it is exclusively supplying its AI-native flagship screen to the new Nubia NaviX Ultra smartphone. The device, recently launched and marketed as the "world's first AI smart phone," features BOE's LTPO 2.0 technology.

The screen's LTPO 2.0 technology allows for a dynamic refresh rate adjustment, scaling from a high of 144Hz down to an ultra-low 1Hz. This capability is reported to improve the phone's overall battery life by up to 30%. Critically for AI applications, the display is engineered to sustain background AI processes at very low power consumption, even when the phone is in standby with the screen off.

BOE has also integrated eye-care features into the display. It employs a layered eye protection system with full DC dimming. The screen utilizes a dual-mode dimming strategy: DC dimming at high brightness levels and high-frequency 2160Hz PWM dimming at low brightness. Combined with new-generation light-emitting components, this allows for comfortable viewing at 1 nit in low light and a peak outdoor brightness of 4500 nits.

For demanding creative tasks, the screen offers a 1.5K ultra-high definition resolution and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Each display undergoes pixel-level optimization and precise calibration to achieve professional monitor-grade color accuracy (ΔE<1). Durability is enhanced with a new generation of high-strength micro-crystalline glass, claimed to be 100% more resistant to wear and tear and capable of withstanding drops onto hard surfaces from 1.2 meters.

The Nubia NaviX Ultra smartphone, also known as the "Bean Bag Phone Generation 2," is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform and includes a dedicated AI button. Pricing starts at 5999 yuan.
