Boluda Shipping Adopts TMEIC's Pulse Mobile for Port Operations

Boluda Shipping has selected TMEIC's Pulse Mobile digital gate platform to enhance its operations at the Tenerife terminal in the Canary Islands. This initiative is part of the company's broader digital transformation strategy aimed at addressing increased truck volumes, space constraints, and the growing demand for efficiency and sustainability in port management.

The new system shifts key operational and check-in processes upstream, allowing for the resolution of up to 80% of potential issues before trucks reach the gate, according to TMEIC. This proactive approach is designed to reduce bottlenecks, improve end-to-end visibility, and streamline logistics between the terminal and trucking companies.

"Rising truck volumes, limited space, and sustainability goals are all pushing terminals to find greater efficiency. To address this shifting landscape, we're using technology to redefine how terminals operate," stated Gonzalo Calero Gómez, CEO of Boluda Maritime Terminals. He noted that the platform's design allows for integration with existing systems like TOS and PCS, rather than requiring their replacement.

TMEIC reports that previous deployments of Pulse Mobile have reduced gate cycle times by up to 50% and increased lane availability by up to 98%. These improvements are expected to decrease congestion, enhance operational predictability, and minimize idling time, thereby contributing to reduced emissions. The system also aims to lower dependency on gate equipment such as kiosks and printers, potentially cutting maintenance and parts costs by up to 60%.
